Is New Construction Right for You?

December 6, 2019

Are you considering new construction versus previously owned/already built homes? I hear all the time from prospective clients that they are considering building but either do not know where to start OR they have already began looking at models with no real direction.

When you are considering the process of building a brand-new home, let me tell you, a Trusted Realtor is your number one guide through that lengthy process. Building has many aspects that previously owned homes may not. Having a Licensed Professional there to represent solely You in the purchase of your new home is extremely important.

We will be there from the beginning stages of looking at models to picking out your desired lot, design appointments, framing stages and of course the final product! However, it does not end there. As your representative, we will ensure you are always getting the best incentives offered through the builder and so much more (per Builder their incentives will vary).

Many aspects of building a new home can be overwhelming and we want to ensure you are always best represented. So, contact us today if this is something you are considering. Let us represent you in the process of building your Dream Home today!

First Time Home Buyers

November 20, 2019

First time home buyers are on the rise and our team is here to educate you on the process!

A majority of non-homeowners are eager to own a home. The question is, what is holding them back? Do they have realistic expectations?  Millennials tend to have higher expectations than older homeowners did about their ideal starter home.

According to Clovered.com, Here are some of the top factors first-time buyers tend to place the most weight on when considering where to buy their starter home:

* Area Affordability
* Crime Rates
* Proximity to Workplace
* Neighbors, Friends and Family
* Geography of the Area
* Move-in Ready
* Tax Rates

The housing market is changing, and what people are looking for in a starter home is changing right along with it. While previous generations might have looked for smaller, less expensive properties to start their journey as homeowners, millennials are looking to transition from renters to buyers and have a slightly different plan in mind.

Pulling the trigger on your first home can be a nerve-wracking experience. Considering it’s the biggest purchase most people will make in their lifetimes, it’s OK to be a little worried about the home-buying process. Reach out to me and we can sit down and put a plan in place for you!

MN Architecture Home Tour

November 5, 2019

Last month I had the opportunity to visit the Minnesota Architecture Home Tour with my Mom and sister. It was a beautiful fall day and we were able to tour four incredible homes in the Minnetonka, Deephaven, and Excelsior areas. What we saw as the trend in all of these homes was the strong connection between the interior and exterior designs. We enjoyed the seamless way the interior opened to the exterior, we felt it was a wonderful way to showcase home design and the natural beauty of Minnesota.

A few of my personal favorites were; the creative, low maintenance landscaping of stone and native grasses, the hidden, modern day built-ins and the sustainable material choices throughout.

This year’s MN Architecture Home was a fantastic event. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in looking for new and updated design ideas in real estate. Considering the affordable cost of a tour ticket, this event is a fun day-date with family & friends. Grab lunch or your favorite mocha afterward and I am confident all will enjoy!

Tips to Prepare for Winter

October 24, 2019

With winter approaching it is very important to not only prepare your family for the season change but to also prepare your home. Ensuring your home is ready for every season is something that should never be surpassed or forgotten.

Getting your furnace ready for the cold Minnesota winter is, and always will be, my number one tip. Hire an HVAC contractor to come to your home and inspect and service your furnace to ensure it is working properly and not putting off CO in to your home. The amount of CO will be tested by your contractor of hire. You and your family will need a furnace that will not only keep your home warm but also safe.

Do you have a fireplace? Wood burning, electric or gas? If you plan to use this during the winter months you want to make sure it is cleaned out and again, working as it should. This is a great opportunity to utilize as a secondary heat source on those days where you want to cozy up in your living room or just enjoy a little extra warmth. There are contractors available that can assist with cleaning out and looking over your fireplace to make sure it is safe to use.

If you have older windows, seal with plastic wrap. Sealing with plastic wrap will help hold the heat in your home without letting it seep through the cracks and crevices in those older windows. Older widows are not sealed as well as newer windows but can certainly be covered to ensure you are getting the most out of your heating bill and will save you money in the long run. It may be a job to put the plastic on all windows but it is worth it in the end.

Do not forget to always clean out your gutters after all the leaves have fallen and prep the exterior of your home also, remove items away from your foundation walls.

Making sure your home is ready for all seasons is so important. It will lessen the chance of issues arising during months where contractors may be very busy. Start now to make it easier on you and your family!
